LANE CHANGE is run by Derek Morris. He has been a Scalextric enthusiast for over 30 years, and built up a large private collection of slot cars.  During this time he has gained a wealth of experience designing different tracks and maintaining and repairing slot cars.

Scalextric has come a long way since his interest first started as a child, and with the introduction of Scalextric Digital track and cars, he noticed people who had previously felt slot car racing was boring and just “pressing a trigger and watching a car go round in circles” were getting hooked.  Unlike traditional Scalextric, the digital track means you can now race up to six cars on one lane, and lane change pieces allow overtaking.  So the whole family can all join in together.  And when up to six people are racing at once, it really does become exciting!  It is no longer just about who can go the fastest – you can now think strategically and work out which lane is best to be in if you want to overtake.

So, in 2006 Derek decided to share his passion for Scalextric with the people of Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties, and set up LANE CHANGE - running digital slot car events and undertaking repairs to slot cars.

In April 2008, Derek attended the Hornby/NSCC (National Slot Car Club) weekend in Ramsgate and won first prize in the members race. His wife, Sally, won first prize in the Ladies Race. Obviously all the practice at LANE CHANGE Digital Scalextric Events has paid off!   2008 Hornby/NSCC Winner

LANE CHANGE were proud to be part of James May's World Record Attempt to build the longest ever Scalextric circuit. More than 20,000 pieces of Scalextric were used to create a circuit of over 2.75 miles around Brooklands. Derek & Sally helped construct the start/finish section, and spent time with James May and the film crew. The event was televised in Autumn 2009 as part of the 'James May's Toy Stories' series.
